November Luncheon (VIRTUAL) - The Evolving Role of Project Management and PMI

Kentuckiana Chapter Meeting – November 16, 2021

Topic: The Evolving Role of Project Management and PMI

Presentation Description

The Evolving Role of Project Management and PMI with Sarah Maxwell

Abstract:

The world is changing, and projects are more important than ever.  Project managers are being asked to support and lead their organizations through times of immense change, people without project knowledge are being asked to lead projects, and organizations are becoming more socially responsible.  How do we build the plane while flying it?

The Project Management Institute saw the need to evolve back in 2017, and has been working behind the scenes to become the PMI that people who run projects need it to be.  Come learn why we’ve changed, where we’re going, and how we will continue to be the source for project managers of the future.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn PMI’s 4.0 Strategy
  2. See the latest tools for your professional journey
  3. Understand how we’re a part of making the world a better place

PDUs earned: 1 Leadership PDU

In addition to the main presentation, we will also be joined by Matthew Gallagher. He is a PhD Candidate at Arizona State University as well as a professional program evaluator. He is collaborating with several PMI chapters to collect data that will assist him in exploring the extent to which program leaders (i.e. program directors and program managers) include evaluators during the program planning and design phase. His research is a fantastic opportunity for our Chapter to give back to the program community.
