Kentuckiana Chapter Meeting – June 16, 2020

Speaker: Jon Padfield, PhD

Topic: Project Management: War Stories from the Front Line

Jon PadfieldJon's  passions are teaching, consulting and public speaking. He also enjoys talking to people and sharing ideas. Jon is very approachable and is willing to share his expertise.

Jon’s early career was working in Competitive Analysis, R&D, Technology Development, New Product Development and Current Product Support in the automotive industry. He developed the first infrared temperature sensor to be used in an automotive application and the first automotive heat pump system (used in GM's first electric vehicle, the EV1 "Impact"). Jon honed his problem-solving skills by investigating and resolving numerous product design and field warranty issues.

Later Jon invested several years as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and then Master Black Belt in the automotive, security technologies, and medical device industries. Jon led over 100 improvement projects in manufacturing, global supply chain, engineering, finance, customer service, field service, sales, marketing, IT, HR and EHS. Jon has gained valuable, hands-on experience leading cross-functional teams. The benefits from a few of his projects include a 75% reduction in OSHA recordable incidents in a large manufacturing plant, shortened time to generate quotes for highly customized products (from 30 days to 1 hour), and reduced warranty rates by over 90% on several product lines.

Today Jon runs his own business providing consulting, training, and mentoring services to organizations committed to turning their data, people and processes into competitive advantages.
He has spoken at events hosted by the International Academy of Technology, Education and Development, the Asia-Pacific Innovation Conference, the Parenteral Drug Association, the Electronic Frontiers Forum, and Duke University,

Jon will be sharing some of his “war stories from the front line”, sharing insights gained over his career.
