April Luncheon "Coping in Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous Situations" Resli Costabell
April Lunch Meeting
Presentation: Resli Costabell "Coping in Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous Situations"
Be a VUCA Vulcan
VUCA = Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous.
Does that describe some of your work situation?
I’ve interviewed VUCA experts such as an improvisational comedian, a bomb disposal expert, a jazz musician, a teacher who works with highly disturbed four-year-olds, a sky diving champion, an emergency room doctor, and the colonel who was in charge of stabilising Basra after the Iraq war. A diverse group of people. But they had startlingly similar strategies for staying mentally strong in a VUCA environment. Want to find out how they did it? Want to learn how you can stay Vulcan-calm when everything’s going to hell in a handcart? Then come along to this keynote.
Resli Costabell has worked in a homeless shelter, trained prison inmates, and worked in a methadone clinic, so she’s learned a thing or to about how to keep your cool when life is going all VUCA on you.
PS: I know project managers love three letter acronyms. Thought I’d give added value with a four letter acronym: VUCA. Enjoy. -Resli
