A passionate and experienced nonprofit leader will describe how leadership in nonprofits involves mission critical project management. Maggie Elder will discuss the differences between nonprofits and private businesses. Additional topics include the importance of building buy-in, securing resources, and defining what is most important. Maggie Elder will conclude the discussion by describing how KIPMI members can support the nonprofits involved in their favorite causes.

Chief Executive Officer - Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana
Maggie Elder accepted the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana in April 2020. Since that time, she has successfully navigated the organization’s response to the Covid pandemic, while implementing strategic priorities such as growing fund development, membership, the organization’s sense of belonging and the Girl Scout utilization of camp properties. Prior to Girl Scouts, Maggie served as Chief Operating Officer for Metro United Way.
Maggie has over 20 years of nonprofit leadership experience. In her role as Chief Operating Officer at Metro United Way, she led a team of 75 employees to define and execute strategies that furthered organizational priorities. Prior to Metro United Way, Maggie served as Associate Executive Director of the American Cancer Society after having served in both fundraising and impact roles.
Maggie and her husband, Alex, have two daughters, Jane and Hannah. They live in Louisville with their dog, Magnolia.
