August 2024 Chapter Meeting - Viewing Success Through the Leadership Kaleidoscope (In Person)
Abstract
Chuck will discuss a multi-perspective approach to understanding and achieving project success, emphasizing the perspectives of leadership at different levels. Key discussion topics include:
Defining Success: Clarifying what success means from different leadership perspectives—outcomes, methodology, and the practitioner’s influence. This sets the stage for a comprehensive discussion on project success.
Attributes for Efficacy: Share findings from focus group studies on the most important attributes for project manager efficacy as it relates to project success. Highlight the nine specific project manager attributes or skills that influence stakeholders and contribute to success as seen through various lenses.
Project Leadership: Reflection through Chuck’s personal experience in various project leadership roles, such as project manager, program manager, PMO leader, business sponsor, and executive sponsor, and how each of these roles have shaped his view on project success.

Dr. Chuck Millhollan, PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP
Chuck is the Chief Operating Officer for Farm Credit Mid-America. He has over 30 years of experience in strategic planning, operations management, quality management, and project, program & portfolio management. Past positions include Senior Vice President Operational Process Excellence and Vice President Process Improvement & Execution for Farm Credit Mid-America, Director of Program Management for Churchill Downs Incorporated and Manager of the Applications Engineering Project Management Office for Humana Inc. Chuck also retired from the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant Commander Special Duty Intelligence Officer.
In addition to his work as a practitioner, Chuck designs & develops curricula and teaches for several accredited universities. He has developed Project Management emphasis courses for an MBA program and is the author and program manager for the University of Louisville College of Business Executive Education project and program management training and certificate program.
