  • Kentucky Bill Affects Chapter Event Registration

Hello, Starting July 1, 2018, the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet has enacted a Tax Reform bill that will affect the amount the chapter charges to your event fees. As your chapter president I am committed to transparency in our chapter financial interactions and wanted to make sure that all chapter members have full visibility to why there is a difference in registration before and after the July 1 date. We will be charging a 6% tax on all events, monthly meetings, Holiday Party, Professional Development Days, the upcoming Fall Symposium (October), and all other events and opportunities that require admission. Our summer events including the July ballgame and August Chapter Meeting have already been changed to reflect this update from our legistature. There are efforts to try and adjust this by the Representatives when the legislature re-convenes in January 2019. Most Kentucky businesses, including the media outlets, did not anticipate the effects to non-profit groups like our chapter in...

"Session D" “Trends and the Future of the Profession"

[Professional Panel]

The profession is always changing. What trends are we experiencing now that may be affecting your career and where are we headed? In this session, you will hear from a panel of professionals discuss the following topics:

Growth: Project management is enjoying growth and popularity. As positions and opportunities expand, being a career project manager is not good enough –increasingly other specialized knowledge, such as security, mobile technology, etc. is required.

Fast development: Agile development has of course gained popularity for technical projects. However this trend does not represent just a shift into formalized Agile development methodology more than a broad shift toward rapid change and iteration.

Talent Development: Judging project success and outcome is a very difficult task for managers external to the companies where the projects were performed. How do you judge the past work of project managers? This means developing a rigorous set of standards for assessing projects and project outcomes.

More About The Professional Panel:

The panel leading this interactive discussion will include hiring professionals and PMO leaders, featuring event sponsor Kforce. These panel members have watched as the profession has evolved and are on the front lines witnessing the changes happening right now.

The intention of this format is to bring an interactive discussion to the audience and present multiple viewpoints from a number of industries that surround project management and trends within the profession.
