Topic:  Crisis Management--Leading Combat, Security and Stability Operations in Baghdad

COL (Ret) Russ Gold will describe the roles and responsibilities of commanding a Brigade Combat Team during the initial ground war, and 15 months thereafter, while conducting Combat, Stability, and Security Operations in Baghdad, Iraq.  In his description, Russ will show the analogies between conducting military operations and program/project management. His unique perspective of the military and projects lays the foundation for understanding how project management discipline can be applied to crisis and combat situations.

Speaker:  Colonel Russ Gold, US Army Retired

COL (Ret) Russ Gold has more than twenty-six years of proven experience leading, directing, managing and developing complex military and civilian organizations in the United States and overseas, both in peace and in time of war.  He has a comprehensive knowledge of development of operational concepts, organizational designs, and international corporate level (Theater Army) planning.  Russ is an articulate communicator with extensive team and consensus building experience and an exceptional track record in material acquisition and defense related development programs. He is adept at effective problem solving, mission analysis, course of action development, decision making and translating leadership guidance into executable plans, orders and directives. Russ earned a BS in Biology from The Citadel, a Master of Science Degree in Education at the University of Miami, and a Master of Science Degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
